I was down in the basement the other night, getting ready to watch Nim's Island with the kids. Julia has been a little concerned with the meaning of "chubby" lately, since this has been her nickname for so long, since she was such a cute, but very chubby baby. So, she started a conversation about the word chubby.
Here's the dialogue:
Julia: "Mom, is chubby, fat?"
Me: "Well, kind of, it's a little fat, but chubby is more cute. You aren't chubby Julia." (I wanted to reassure her.)
Julia: "Yeah, I know, only Mom's and Dad's are chubby."
All three of the other kids, and I busted out laughing, and our sensitive Julia who thinks if anyone laughs at her, it's a bad thing, (but we all can't help but laugh at her because she is so funny), lost it and burst into tears and buried herself into the couch. I had to reassure her that it's okay, and we were just laughing at what she said because she's so cute and funny. She was so serious, so maybe Paul and I need to really get serious about loosing some weight.
Funny #2:
The kids were sitting at the table the other day, talking about some of their friends in Texas that they miss. Adelyne has a friend named Jessie, that she misses so much, she was reminiscing about her. Cole wasn't really even in the conversation, and just says out of the blue in another serious tone, "Jessie is HOT."
We all lost ourselves to laughter again, and once I composed myself, I asked Cole, "Cole, what does HOT mean?" "It means you are really really pretty."
Ugh, I guess if he knows what HOT means, either he has been watching too much Paris Hilton, or he isn't as naive as I thought he was.
