The Christmas Card

Every year, we set out to get just one picture of either the 4 kids, or parents included. This year, being in Colorado, where there are mountains, trees, and SNOW, I wanted a nice picture outside.

I set out on my mission to find some outfits, or shirts, or sweaters for the picture. I found sweaters for each child, not even thinking that if I wanted to avoid excessive whining, I would need sweaters in the least, being that it's only 20 degrees outside, I still haven't gotten used to that. We trekked down to the park in our neighborhood, where there is this fun and cool bronze rusted bridge, perfect for our picture. We walked over the river, through the woods, and 10 miles to get to it. Not really. We drove down to the culd-e-sac and walked a few feet in the snow to get to the bridge, life is easy these days.

I set up my tripod, got the kids lined up, took a few of them first, and set up our family to get a good family shot. Julia's sweater was too big, and she was obsessed with her sleeves, as a result, many pictures have her swinging and flailing her arms in an attempt to get a rise out of her mother, and make it as hard as possible. They were freezing, and it got dark as soon as we arrived at our bridge destination. After every picture taken, Dawson wanted to jump over and look at each one, we had to readjust Julia's sleeves, Adelyne smiling and being an angel, with the exception of making sure we knew how cold she was every 2 minutes, Cole making bodily function sounds with his mouth, and Paul and I assuring them every time that we were almost done.

We actually got through it okay, the pictures are dark, but I made them work out, and we managed to get at least one good shot.

Here are some out takes...

Julia and her sleeves, Cole has learned the art of mouth noises, and he has that face in 80% of the pictures.

My baby looks like she could be the lead in Children of The Corn in this one.
